Is Vue 11 Esprit the successor product to Vue 10 Esprit?
Yes. For more information, please check this full feature list.

I've upgraded to Vue 11 Esprit from Vue 10 Esprit (or Vue 9 Esprit). Can I run both versions on the same machine?
Yes, you can. Just remember that while you can open Vue 10 / Vue 9 scenes in Vue 11, you will not be able to open Vue 11 scenes in Vue 10 / Vue 9.

I've upgraded to Vue 11 from Vue 10 / Vue 9. Do I need to have the previous version installed on my hard drive when installing Vue 11?
No, this is not necessary. If your Vue 11 is an upgrade from Vue 10 or Vue 9, just make sure you have your previous serial # at hand while installing Vue 11.

Can I install a Vue license of Vue on both my main computer and, say, my laptop?
Yes, you will simply need to activate the license for your laptop as well.
Note: It is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with the terms of the EULA (in particular, that you only run one instance of the program at any given time, and that you do not activate the program on multiple computers operating at the same location).

I want to restore the default preferences of Vue. What do I need to do?

Restoring default preferences can be useful in the following cases:

  • You're not happy with the settings you set and would like to quickly restore the default ones.
  • Your installation got corrupted and the application refuses to work.
  • You want to reinstall the application, starting from a clean setup.

Restoring the default preferences is done by deleting the following folder:
  • WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\e-on software\Vue 11
  • Vista: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Romaing\e-on software\Vue 11
  • MacOSX: /Users/UserName/.e-on software/Vue 11

When I load a material in Vue 11 that was created in a previous version of Vue, the material looks totally different. What should I do to get it back?

To improve overall consistency, we have changed some parts of the internal code in the material and function editors (such changes occurred between Vue 8 and Vue 9). Because of these modifications, some compatibility problems may happen (in very particular scenarios) when loading in Vue 11 a material that was created in a previous version of Vue.

Unfortunately, this compatibility problem cannot be fixed automatically since it depends on the context such material or function is used.

However, you can easily fix it manually by following the below process:

If the material has a standard mapping (object or world) and if it has one or several "projected texture node" and an automatic projection mode, then you must multiply the scale parameter with a coefficient depending on the object which will receive the material (if the material is applied on several objects, you must duplicate the material and repeat the operation for each object).

This coefficient is:

  • For spheres, tores and metaballs -> nothing to do
  • For cylinders and cones -> X = 1, Y = 22.5
  • For cubes, plans, pyramids, terrains, mesh without UV, rocks and plants: X = 22.5, Y = 22.5

Is there a downloadable version of Vue 11 Esprit?
Yes, you can purchase the downloadable version of Vue 11 Esprit from our online store.

How do I install the downloadable version of Vue 11 Esprit?
When you complete your order of Vue 11 Esprit, you will receive a link to a Vue 11 Esprit Zip Archive. Simply unzip this file to your hard drive at your preferred location. You can burn this folder to CD for backup. Launch the installer application to complete the installation of Vue 11 Esprit.

I don't have Internet access. How can I activate my product?
If the computer running Vue is not connected to the internet, but you have access to the internet otherwise, please visit the following page: https://secure.e-onsoftware.com/register/vue11esprit. If you already have an account with e-on software and your account information isn't automatically located, log into your account manually. Fill-out the registration form. Don't forget to enter your installation code into the appropriate field (the number that starts with "INST-"). Press "Activate", wait while your activation key is generated. You will receive this key by e-mail. Once you have received the Key file, save it to your hard drive. In the Vue 11 Esprit activation dialog, click on "Locate Activation file" and browse to the folder location where you have saved the key file.
If you absolutely have no Internet access, contact one of our sales reps by phone, fax or mail with the required information, and he will send you your activation key.

Why is the application asking me for an ativation code everytime I open Vue 11 Esprit on Vista / Windows 7?

e is not stored in the system from the start. The only solution to circumvent this, is to right click on the Vue icon and select "Run as admin". The aplication will ask you once again for your Activation code, but will store it in the system files and will not ask for it afterwards. This procedure has to be done only once. After that you can simply launch Vue by double clicking on the Icon as usual.

e HD crash?
Just re-install Vue and repeat the activation process, if needed.

Is there a limit to the number of times I can activate a product?
There is no limit to the number of times you can activate a product for the same system (e.g. after reinstalling the product, replacing your operating system, or recovering from a hard drive crash - see above). However, there is a reasonable limit to the number of different systems for which you can activate a product.
If you exceed the maximum number of activations for a given product, you will have to get in touch with our support staff for further activations.

Can I use Vue without activating it?
Yes, you an install and run Vue without acivating it. The program wil operate normally, but images will be rendered with a watermark, and the files you create will only be readable on your system.
These limitations will disappear once you activate the product.

Is Vue 11 Esprit available in other languages than English?
For the moment, Vue 11 Esprit is only available in English. French, German and Japanese versions will be release later on in 2012 / early 2013.

What are the system requirements for Vue 11 Esprit?
Please refer to this page for both Macintosh and Windows systems requirements.

What is a RenderCow?
RenderCow is the name of Vue's standalone multi-processor network rendering engine. Vue 11 Esprit will require HyperVue to perform Network renders, and manage RenderCows. A RenderCow must be installed on each computer that is to take part in the network rendering of Vue environments. You can install up to 5 Rendercows with a basic license.

I had a hard drive crash. Does this mean my License-Locked content is lost?
No, it isn't lost! All you need to do is re-download your License-Locked content from Cornucopia3D after registering the new product. Because we understand that it may be a hassle to re-download each License-Locked item individually, you are able to automatically download and install all of your License-Locked items in one go. On the Cornucopia3D website, go to My Account and select Show Purchases. Scroll to the bottom of your account page and select Download all License-Locked items.

Can Vue 11 Esprit import Poser objects?
Yes, you can import static and animated Poser content directly in Vue 11 Esprit, including dynamic hair and cloth!

Is Esprit compatible with Poser 9 and Poser Pro 2012?
Yes, Vue 11 Esprit is compatible with Poser 9 and Poser Pro 2012. Be sure to point to the directory that the Poser.exe file is located in the Vue Options panel, General Options tab, and select the Configure Poser Import button. Vue 11 Esprit ships with 4 different Poser SDKs to choose from. Please read this page for more information.

I'm importing Poser 7+ content, but the morphs are not coming in correctly.
Please switch off External Binary Morph Target support on the Misc tab of the General Preferences dialog (CTRL/CMD+K) in Poser before saving your PZ3/PZZ for import into Vue.

The extra plant species I purchased for Vue 6 or Vue 5 don't load in Vue 11 Esprit.
The plant format has changed significantly. You need to obtain new versions of the plants from Cornucopia3D.com. Please contact support@cornucopia3d.com with your plant keys and the serial number of the product for which you purchased them. The corresponding plants will be added to your Cornucopia3D account so that you can download them. Contact support@cornucopia3d.com for any further questions.

Why did I get an unsuported OpenGL warning when I launched Vue 11 Esprit for the first time?
When Vue 11 Esprit launches for the first time, it checks your hardware (especially the video board) against a qualified hardware list. If you get this type of message, it does not mean your video board won't work with Vue and OpenGL. It only means that the board/driver you are using is not on our qualified hardware list. However, if you experience OpenGL crashes, you should disable OpenGL.

How can I retrieve my serial number?
Connect to your account and click on the "Retrieve Serial" link alongside the product registration information. If you purchased a download version, you can also access your serial number by clicking on the corresponding order in the order summary. For security reasons, we do not show serial numbers online. Serial numbers will be sent to you by e-mail.

I purchased SkinVue from Cornucopia3D, but I get an error message when I try to load it under OSX on 64 bit?
Indeed, SkinVue uses WXPython, which is not yet available on MacOS X in 64 bit. So in order to use SkinVue on MacOS, you will need to run Vue in 32bit. You can select the MacOS Architecture directly from Vue's Preferences.

On windows, I've just updated my nVidia drivers to the build 270.61 (or more), and now my viewports are all black, what can I do?

The latest nVidia drivers may not be compatible with old build numbers or older versions of Vue. However, you can correct this issue easily by downloading this file and unzipping it in your Application folder (by default, in your program files directory /e-on software/Vue [version]/Application/).

Known Issues

  • None at this point ;-)

  • Supported Video Boards

Vue 10 now includes an automatic configuration tool that will set all OpenGL options just after install, for optimized previewing on your video board / driver.

The following boards/chips will perform using the new Shader engine:

Brand Model Required Driver Version Supported OS Limitations
    nVidia geforce 8800GT ForceWare 190.38 + (3) Windows only
nVidia geforce 9800GT ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia GTX 260 -> 280 ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia GTX 460 -> 480 ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia GTX 500 Series ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia Quadro FX 1800 -> 5800 ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia Quadro 4000 -> 6000 ForceWare 190.38 + (3)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
nVidia Quadro 600 & 2000 (GF100 based) Any Windows only
ATI Radeon HD 26xx Any Mac only
    ATI Radeon 48xx Catalyst 9-3, 9-4, 9-5 & 10.12 (1)     Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac
ATI Radeon (HD) 5700 -> 58xx Catalyst 9.12 +     May display some minor glitches, Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac (2)
ATI Radeon 6000 Series Any     May display some minor glitches, Shaded Billboards not supported on Mac (2)
    ATI FirePro V8700 Catalyst 9-3, 9-4 & 9-5 Windows only
ATI FirePro V4800/5800/7800/8800 Any Windows only. May display some minor glitches (2)

    (1) Requires a Vue 9 build superior to 9005724. Resizing editors, or really heavy scenes may generate some instability.

    (2) Support for Shaded Billboards on Windows requires a Vue 9 build superior to 9005724.

    (3) Warning! Do not install Nvidia Drivers 270.61. These drivers weren't certified with Vue and may present severe OpenGL issues!

Other boards (such as the nVidia GeForce 210/220/240, 300 and 300M series, 6000 and 7000 series...) may not perform using the Shader engine, but will perform using the older fixed-pipeline one.

Older boards such as Voodoo, Rage Pro, Radeon 8000 up until Geforce FX chips included, all Intel video boards, and all unrecognized boards will run in software OpenGL mode only.

Due to recent changes in the Mac OS 10.6 OpenGL implementation, which resulted in a massive slowdown of OpenGL intensive applications, Shaded Billboards are not supported at all on Mac.

In any case, Vue can perform in software OpenGL regardless of the video board.

Boards that are not on this list may work with Vue, but haven't been extensively tested. If you run into any OpenGL issues, try disabling background draw and antialiasing in the Options panel. Worst case scenario: you can always run Vue in software OpenGL mode.

Warning: Laptops using Nvidia's Optimus or ATI's BinaryGFX technologies may present severe OpenGl problems. We recommend that users deactivate this option when running Vue!

    Chips we do not recommend:

       Windows:

    • All ATI Radeon prior to 4000 series.
    • ATI 9000 series, X series, and HD series might work, but with fewer options, and you may experience severe slowdowns.
    • ATI FireGL 5000 series.
    •  Macintosh:

    • Intel-based GPUs and nVidia 7300 board will not work with Vue (with hw acceleration).
