Hey guys, we're using some assets from Maya, an animated camera and a landscape. We use the VueSynch; command and the camera comes over fine. We then export the geo from Maya as obj and it loads fine into Vue except now the Camera even after setting the synch to 1 instead of 50, is not located in the same location as it is in Maya, or its the geo not coming in at the right spot. Meaning our animation is way off. Totally unacceptable if we cannot get our geo and camera imported to match the scene in Maya, Also there's massive atmosphere scaling issues. We built the Maya scene in cm, and switched Vue to cm for the match up, Reasonably thinking the atmosphere would not show my landscape 30 miles into outspace and the loss of any control of the atmopshere cause its too large. Is eon ever going to get a solid workflow from one package to another? This is really bad, because this is a full feature production and Vue is going to lose the chance to shine in this movie if we cannot solve this fast.
#1 We must be able to import cameras and geo exactly as they come out of Maya.
#2 The scale of the atmosphere must match the real world scale the geo was created in.
I know the software is developed to work this way, now why isn't it and when can I hope to see a solution so I can ensure Vue's use?
Chris, make sure you are positioning the imported obj at the same location they are at inside of Maya. Also, I wouldn't expect a strong influence of the atmosphere on objects that are centimeters long.
All in all, isnt xStream the solution to your problem?

I assumed this was an xStream version you had since you mentioned Maya. If it's Infinite, I'm curious what kind of atmosphere model you're using? I'm not familiar with Vuesync.
Xstream isnt the solution, our pipeline is asking for us to render natively from vue. I guess i am going to have to manually position the geo because the exporter is not behaving like it should at all. 2 days wasted now trying to get this to work and Lee even sent me an update file that did next to nothing so far.

In order for Vue Infinite to place all my objects in the proper locations, I have to do all my modeling, placement, scaling, and rotation in my modeler first. Everything has to be in the same scene. Then I export each piece of each model one at a time into Vue. The objects come into my Vue scene exactly where they should.
I save the Vue scene before I do anything else. Then I group all the objects and re-size the group to the correct scale. If I need to change one object in the scene. I re-import just that one object into my previously saved scene (that wasn't re-sized). Then I group the objects again and re-size the group just like before. I usually do this two or three times with an object or two before I have everything just right.

Anyway, is Z-Axis up for your camera in both progams? What format are you exporting your camera as? Or is this a .DAT camera file that you are opening in Vue using the Animation/Import Sync data menu?
I'm guessing you read this already at some point http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=246946 and you have the latest Vuesync plugin that will work with your version of Maya? And that your Vue Infinite and Vue xStream are the same version?
Ya know, you can have some of the greatest technical minds around in this world, even they get stumped. Until some dummy clicks the "Y" axis is up button. Works fine now bleh sorry guys. Funny we spent 2 full days trying to deal with python scripts to do what we wanted too lol.

I have a similar workflow as you - (and the up-axis misery bit us when doing Blender Maya work before).
Just as an aside, one "undocumented" feature I found helpful is that when using the VueSync MEL command, the camera path will be exported using your frame start and frame end settings in the Render Setting Editor. So, if you have start frame 100, end frame 200, you will get a clean camera path export for just that section. In Vue, you will now only be working with 100 frames total.
You probably already knew this, but I thought I'd post it anyway for anyone reading the thread.
