I have a image body map and am trying to add a tattoo layer and no matter what i do it makes everything slightly transparent. The tattoo layer is a jpeg and can be B&W or W&B. so far no luck. I'm using Vue10.5I

How are you applying/mixing the tattoo material?

have tattoo layer which is laid out to fit a V4 character and same size as the body texture. I can get em to work in poser pro with the associated python scripts but when exported into vue they disappear. Have tried to use a mixed material which almost works but it makes the whole body slightly transparent. I can merge these things in photoshop and do the same thing but im looking for a method not to have to create new body maps for tattoos.

Have you checked your overall alpha settings?

yes I have no matter what I dial up on the tattoo layer it makes both textures more or less transparent. Probably need to explore the function editor.

Ok. I thought maybe you were using the gizmo to place a tattoo.

32 bit PNG is definitely a better format than JPEG for transparent images to be overlayed on other images.

Also, just based on the description of your task, you're probably just better off making a copy of the V4 skin you're using, apply the tattoo in photoshop on top of the skin image map.

Then save out as a new skin image just for that particular body part.

Waaaaay simpler than trying to fiddle with Vue's layers, especially if not necessary.

I did do as stated in photoshop, but would be nice to learn a method for doing this in layers. eventually I will figure out a way.
